This is Red Fox by Edward Netley. Netley first made the fox out of wire mesh, then made a cast for it. From there, it looks like he painted it a bronze/brown color with a black nose, ear tips, and legs.


This is by Jen Gagne. It is a Lightning bug and is made out of 12 karat gold filled wire, black copper wire, red copper wire, steel utility blades, 23 karat gold leaf, and glow in the dark plastic.

- The artist created a sense of depth, space, and form in this sculpture. They made the sculpture to have the same characteristics as a real lion. The fur on the lion gives the sculpture a sense of depth and it adds to the realism effect the artist created.

- I learned that wire mesh may take time to get used to, but it is also easy to bend and manipulate to other forms. Creating the insects gave me an idea of what I would be working with for the final project and taught that you should focus on small parts of the project then build it up from there.

2.He created a sense of form by shaping the body parts into the correct positions.
3.creating a wire mesh insect helped me getting the feeling of the tricks on forming it correctly.

The artist used depth by making the horse hollow. The artist used space by making the horse very exaggerated. The Artist used form to make the horse in a gallop position.

I learned that using wire mesh is very shapeable and maintains the shape that you form it into.

The artist made use of both the resources at hand and the background to give the sculpture both depth and movement.

the artist used depth and space by wrapping the wire mesh around the birds wings
making it look very spacious in the stomach area.

- i learned that wire mesh is very bendable and easy to wrap around objects,
i also learned it's very dangerous to work with because it made me bleed :O

-its the bird picture, the artist showed space by separating the wings evenly apart and they made the bird look as realistic as possible.

~What i learned by making my small insect was that you need to work on the project by sections and you have to break it up, it will help my final because my final is even bigger so i need to really separate it into pieces and really think about what I'm going to do and what order I'm going to put it together in.

The five qualities that make a good sculpture are uniqueness, meaning to the artist, the composition of the sculpture (good construction & form), the constant flow of texture, color, and/or pattern, and the emphasis of something which will catch the viewers eye and keep their attention.

What makes a good sculpture?

Texture, rhythm,color,emphasis,balance and form are all characteristics of a good sculpture. Those are the things that make a good sculpture!
